June 27, 2009
Our last meeting was held at 10:30 am on Saturday, June 27 at the Walters State Ag Expo Center in Morristown, TN. We had attempted to hold the meeting on Friday night but did not have enough Officers and Directors in attendance due to some members still being in transit to the sale facility. Up for re-election for 2010-2011 terms were the office of President held by Danny Guffey and Vice-President held by Roger Townsend. Also, three Director's positions were up for re-election. These positions were previously held by Monty Polk, Jody Shaw and Mike Ford. New Directors for 2010-2011 are as follows: Randy Simmons, Ken Morris and Mike Ford who was re-elected for another two year term. Roger Townsend was elected President and Jerry Loveday was elected Vice-President. Jerry Loveday's new office left a vacant one year term for Director. Jody Shaw was re-elected to fill this position. A unanimous vote was taken to keep Larry Bischoff in the Secretary/Treasurer position.
Roger Townsend was appointed to be in charge of getting any news or changes updated on the affiliate website. Danny Guffey volunteered to donate a heifer for the 2010 Heifer Raffle. Thanks to Jerry Loveday for the 2009 donation of a nice heifer which was raffled off at the beginning of the sale. Congratulations to Calvin Deemer who won the heifer and opted to receive a check for $400 instead of the heifer. The heifer was auctioned off as a special donation lot at the beginning of the sale. The heifer sold for $400. The Tennessee Valley association sold $1100 worth of raffle tickets this year. We sold several dozen T-shirts this year as well at this event. We also raised $532 on Silent Auction items this year. Thanks to all who donated and bought these items.
We want to thank Carl Brantley for holding the sale at this lovely facility and hope that it will become an annual event. We also want to thank Jerry Loveday for all of his hard work in getting the food and preparations set up for the Friday evening meal and special thanks go out to Pat and Barbara Brown for their preparing their special barbeque and brisket and no meal would be complete without the Banana pudding made by their daughter Jennifer Brown. We fed approximately 150 people at the Friday evening get together.
We will conduct our next meeting on Saturday October 10 at 3 pm in Morristown, TN at our Fall Fun Day. Topics to be discussed will be time, date and location of our 2009 Christmas Party and upcoming shows for 2010.
